Salvage & Towing Business English Harbour is the winter destination of many of the world's finest yachts. Yachtsmen come for the safe anchorages, yachting services and entertainment provided. From November to May English Harbour plays host to several international events: The Antigua Boat Show, Antigua Classic Regatta, Antigua Mega Yacht Challenge and Antigua Sailing Week. A Salvage and Towing specialist is selling his business, which includes the boat in order to retire and concentrate on his other interests. The salvage boat is built of steel, 40 ft long with a displacement of 40,000 lbs. It was built in 1966 and has had several refits since then. The twin Detroit 300 hp were rebuilt in 1990. This work horse has a full list of inventory of navigatation, diving, towing and pumping equipment. The current owner is a sea Captain and Salvage Diver and has performed a valuable service in the islands around Antigua and Barbuda for years. The business was established in 1992 and the boat and owner are well known for salvage work. A potential buyer would have to have the necessary skills involved in this type of work. The current owner has no permanent staff. Divers and deck crew are employed as needed. As English Harbour is a hub for boating activity labour is seldom in short supply. While salvage operations take place after an emergency call other types of work are on-going. Diving work undertaken includes dock structural repairs, prop changes, anchor retrieval, servicing of stabalisers, bow thrusters and rudders, zinc replacements, hull cleaning and more. Apart from emergency salvage the vessel is used for towing, emergency pumping, mobile fire pump and anchor relaying. The peak business period is during the Winter season which stretches from November to May. While the rest of the year is quieter salvage can be needed at any time. Some underwater construction work takes place in the summer. It must be mentioned that the owner has constructed moorings and these are not included in the sale. The reason the owners are selling is to retire and attend to other interests. Asking Price: US $ 95,000. Includes Boat. No Owners Financing. Potential Buyers will be required to complete a confidentiality agreement before receiving further details. Contact: Anthony Todd at Caribbean Business Brokers. |
